Media training for free publicity
We mean here the free publicity you want. Because there’s plenty of rubbish published every day you didn’t ask for. Free publicity we define as editorial content, for free, that furthers your interests. It can be done. But is takes proper analysis, careful preparation and finally the convincing performance. Think of all the ad-money you will not spend!
Goal
Get your message across to your audience by having the journalist do what you want.
Assignments
Write a key message having a particular audience and a specific medium in mind, through which you want to reach it. Perfect your key message, guided by your trainer.
Interview session. Stick to your key message, whatever happens. Audience check: what is the key message? Can anyone repeat it? If not, back to square one.
Debate: what’s wrong with manipulation?
For CEO’s, figure heads and spokespersons of organizations, those who write press releases and maintain relations with the press
The key message and why you need it
Why is it that too often you find yourself ‘quoted out of context’? How come the headline suggests the opposite of what you intended? What made you cross the line into uncharted territory during the actual interview? More importantly: can all this be avoided? Yes, it can. What you need is a key message.
Goal
Get your message across to your audience through the journalists’ medium.
Assignments
Present a topic of your own choice on camera. You will be interviewed. Evaluation of your performance: weak and strong points. Elaboration of the key message and the toolkit you need to make it. Write a key message.
